We listen. Even better, we hear.
What's behind every big idea? A lot of good small ideas, we think. When it comes to projects involving land use, groups too often view each other either as allies or foes. Pretty soon, everyone's digging in their heels, which is a pretty difficult way to get anything accomplished.
At JJR, we prefer to acknowledge all interested parties as stakeholders, with legitimate concerns for a place. By listening and learning--and really hearing each other--we can come together to think openly, creatively, collaboratively. And once you've created a mindset that inspires and connects people ... why, then you can create a place that does the same.
Team. Work. That sums it up nicely.
Talk with a few of our clients about working with JJR, and you'll discover certain words that keep surfacing in the conversation. Words like honest. Approachable. Forthright. Friendly. Conscientious. Salt of the earth. (Okay, that last one is four words, but you see where we're going with this.)
Stuffy just isn't our style. Maybe it's our Midwestern roots. Maybe it's that we truly enjoy our clients and truly enjoy our work. We're eager to really get to know our clients, to learn about their challenges, understand the nuances of their needs, and forge a team relationship of mutual respect and trust. We thrive on rolling up our sleeves and getting down to business, too. We've never been ones to shy away from hard work, because hard work accomplishes great things--and great places.
Why wait?
While your peers are wallowing in resumes and mindless summer jobs, you can be taking your first bona-fide steps down a career path with JJR. Our three-month summer internship program is the real deal: You will be immersed in the field of landscape architecture, working side-by-side with professional planners, architects, engineers, botanists and wildlife ecologists. You'll be a doer, not a watcher, involved on a project team that may include fieldwork, client meetings, planning, design and construction. In other words, a far cry from the House o' Burgers.
We expect a lot from you, in the form of creativity, problem-solving skills, work ethic and professional behavior. But we can assure you that you'll gain even more in return--real-world credentials, new on-the-job skills, invaluable professional contacts, maybe even a lifelong mentor or two. And trust us, that experience combined with a solid education makes you one desirable graduate indeed.
You have a long and fulfilling career ahead of you. Click here to get it started.
